Reyka Vodka:

Tales of the Cocktail

When the vodka came to the US we worked to get the product out on the market. Reyka Vodka is made with water from glaciers, distilled multiple times, filtered through lava rocks, and crafted in a geothermal-powered distillery. Because the Vodka really represents the natural process of Iceland it developed a campaign of Made of Iceland.

So, the Event

Tales of the Cocktail is a drink industry multi-day event that takes place in New Orleans every year. And we wanted to do something really unique, since Reyka is made with water from glaciers. So naturally, the idea needed to involve a glacier, maybe one that would be used to make drinks. Chunks of ice would need to be broken down somehow, so it needed to be put through a chute (the chimney of a Reyka Hús). And a crank on the side would allow for anyone to turn it and crush the ice, making it available for the bartenders to use on the other side of the house. We’d also add some educational material (natural displays) about the brand. (I didn’t attend, so I don’t have photos. There may be a video online somewhere, but below are my mockups).

Each display was lit up by a copper lamp (Reyka is made in a copper still). And each had some type of natural Icelandic component: like fresh herbs, geothermal power (lava rocks and steam) and glacial water. The Maker department built these out.

Event visitors could turn the crank and crush the ice for the bartenders.

The Midnight Event

We didn’t want the fun to end at the tradeshow (above). And we also knew that most attendees were staying at Hotel Monteleone. So we set up this midnight Reyka Vending machine in the hotel lobby, so attendees could win some fun Icelandic surprises after a day of drinking, including snacks.
